Film Maker Needed for Production of Documentary I. Job Title: Production of a documentary on to the legal response to house demolition in the West Bank (in Arabic language with English subtitles – maximum 15 min duration). II. Project Partners: a. VIII. Objective of the Assignment: To produce a short documentary explaining the issue of house demolition in the West Bank and legal aid interventions in this regard. The documentary will be an advocacy tool that shows the effect of unfair Israeli policies in Area C in order to stimulate discussion and further trigger actions locally and internationally to help fight unfair Israeli policies and procedures. It is also for the purpose of educating an international public about the situation in Area C. The contractor selected will be responsible for both pre-production and postproduction works which will include a detailed and comprehensive shot list, as well as providing all translations. The contractor will deliver the final products to JLAC no later than 30 October 2010. JLAC/NRC will retain full rights to all video footage produced. IX. Scope of Work Under the overall guidance and supervision of a joint Advisory Team comprised of key JLAC and NRC staff, led by JLAC’s PRP Unit Manager, , the contractor(s) is required to fulfill the following scope of work: - Ensure pre production at the highest quality - Develop the scenario of the documentary through research and field visits - Identify, with the Advisory team, individuals affected by the Israeli policies in Area C; - Contact the agreed people on location and insure their availability and willingness for filming and coordinate the filming and any agreed interviews - Provide all necessary equipment and staff, including broadcast quality camera, tripod and the external microphone and camera man; - Liaise with the Advisory Team on production schedules, filming, filming formats - Be available to accompany JLAC/NRC staff on field visits for video shootings; - Undertake all editing of the documentary with the initial cut taking no more than three weeks; - Provide DVD copies (20 copies on DVD format) to JLAC in the agreed format; - Ensure the smooth and highest-quality production and filming (video production staff, owner of its own video production studio or a documented proof of an access to a rented video studio). Submit a comprehensive shot list of the footage filmed including time code translations to English from any other languages. - Work with the highest professional ethical standards and in keeping with JLAC and NRCs mandate and code of conduct. X. Deliverables The contractor(s) is expected to submit the following deliverables: - Production of a documentary on legal aid efforts to alleviate the consequences of house demolition in Area C of the West Bank (in Arabic language with English subtitles – 15 min duration) of a quality suitable for producing both DVDs and for posting on the internet.
